This session provides a definition of postural hypotension.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Define postural hypotension
Postural (or orthostatic) hypotension is defined as either:
- A drop in systolic blood pressure of 20mmHg or more on standing, or
- A drop in diastolic blood pressure of 10mmHg or more on standing
This drop in blood pressure (BP) has to be associated with symptoms of light-headedness or unsteadiness.
