Abdominal pain:

  • May be subtle in terms of signs and symptoms, but can have sinister underlying pathology and vice versa
  • May originate in the abdomen or be referred from extra abdominal sources, metabolic sources or neurogenic causes
  • Requires meticulous history and physical examination

There are many possible causes of abdominal pain.
