  • Identify appropriate treatments for acne vulgaris
  • Know when to refer patients with acne vulgaris to a specialist

Acne is a common chronic disease that affects almost all adolescents in varying degrees and is moderate to severe in 10-20%. It is not a disease limited to adolescence and often persists into adulthood.

Acne has a significant negative psychological impact which may be improved with effective treatment. It accounts for over 3.5 million visits to general practitioners per year in the UK.
