This session covers the principles of non-drug management of cancer pain.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Identify the non-drug therapies available in the treatment of cancer pain
  • Explain when and how non-drug therapies should be used
  • List the interventional nerve blocks that might be available for cancer pain
  • Recognize the possible problems and adverse consequences of these interventional procedures

It is the harsh reality of life that we all shall die at some time. The only difference between clinicians and carers and a patient who is suffering with a terminal illness is that the patient knows that they will probably die in the near future.
