Basic Principles of Health Promotion course
This session provides foundational principles for promoting health and explores health promotion models and approaches that aim to enhance health. The challenges of behaviour change and the healthcare provider’s role forms an integral part of this session.
Learning objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Identify foundation principles that assist in ensuring that health promotion messages are successful
- Make sound judgements regarding appropriate health promotion approaches that aim to enhance health
- Recognise factors that impact positively and negatively on behaviour change
This session will look at the foundations of health promotion, describe different approaches to, and models of, health promotion and explore the factors that have an impact on an individual’s personal health decisions.
Francesca graduated from University of Edinburgh Medical School and has since been training in paediatrics in London.
In 2010, she spent a year as a Darzi Fellow, working on a service improvement, change management project at King’s College Hospital, London. During this time she completed a post-graduate certificate in clinical leadership development.
Francesca continues to be interested in clinical leadership and service development work and in striving to achieve sustainable high quality healthcare for all.
Francesca sees health promotion as integral to this and is excited to be involved in the Healthy Child Programme.
